High School Training Team

Learn to Race
The Perfect Place to Start

Program Details:

  • Learn To Race (LTR) is the first level of Mt. Hood Race Team & Academy program offerings under our Youth Development Team.
  • Prior racing experience is not required, however, skiers should be able to ride the lifts, negotiate intermediate terrain, and put on their own equipment.
    • First time Team members ages 6 to 11 can try a Learn to Race session to test their interest then join any of the Youth Development Teams at a prorated rate. With coaches determination that these new racers are ready, they will be invited to join the MHRTA Training Team.
    • The December Learn To Race session is a great place to start for anyone new to the team.
  • A parent is asked to ski with their child until determined, by the coach, that the child is ready to ride the chair safely and is mature enough to function without their parents present.
  • A Fusion Pass (good for Ski Bowl and Timberline) is not included but encouraged as we bounce between Timberline and Mt. Hood Ski Bowl.
  • Parents should attend October Team Orientation.
  • Athletes are welcome to participate in the Mt. Hood Youth Ski League races and will be coach supported. These races are typically on Sundays and only 3 times per season. Schedule TBD.

Sign ups include options for Full Season, Holiday or Monthly.  LTR meets on Saturdays and kids can choose ANY 3 Saturdays in the month.  See individual registration pages for specific date details.
