Mt. Hood Race Team & academy

Mt. Hood Ski Education Foundation (MHSEF) is the governing body of the Mt. Hood Race Team & Academy (MHRTA).

Matt Greenslade and Duane Bridge, two avid skiers and racing enthusiasts, founded Mt. Hood Race Team (MHRT) in 1965. Later in 1983, MHSEF was created by local competitive skiing supporters with one simple goal - to provide elite training and education for Mt. Hood skiers. Bill and Mary Gunesch took this concept a step further and founded Mt. Hood Academy in 1985 until MHSEF merged with MHRT in 1998, taking over operations and governance of the program. Today MHSEF functions as the umbrella organization for Mt. Hood Race Team & Academy, operating all athletic and academic programs in unison. MHSEF still believes in the benefits and values of athletic endeavors and will continue promoting the development of these unique qualities in youth through healthy competition.

MHSEF is a 501(c)(3) #93-0843878 nonprofit organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors setting policies in accordance with organizational bylaws. MHSEF is bound by the Oregon Nonprofit Corporation Act, its Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws. Operations and day-to day management of MHSEF rest with the organization program director.
